for more info on the secret menu, please see the bottom of this post.***
ever since i ate that life-altering vegan big mac and discovered doomie’s has a secret menu, i have made it my mission to try everything on it. since it’s pretty giant and not actually written down anywhere, it will be tough to track my progress on the secret menu, but i’ll try! i started on sunday with the “buffalo chicken sandwich”.
oh jeez. i have tried almost every sandwich that doomie’s has to offer on the normal menu, and as far i’m concerned, this beats them all. SO GOOD…Tags: hollywood, sandwich, secret menu item
the other day i hit up doomie’s with my better half to prove to him that i wasn’t lying about the insane vegan big mac on the secret menu. thankfully the restaurant is still serving up the double decker sandwiches to customers in the know, and we were able to score one…
my second vegan big mac experience was just as good as the first, and i feel the need to re-iterate that i think this is the best fast food style burger by far in LA, and maybe even the whole world. i’ve never had anything like it. the combination of the fat soy beefy patties and doomie’s homemade cheddar-style cheese is a beautiful one. plus they have all the big mac details down, from the shredded lettuce to the diced onions to the sesame seed bun and the flavors in the sauce.
we also grabbed a philly cheesesteak sandwich (without bell peppers)…Tags: burger, doomie's, hollywood

oh god doomie’s, are you trying to kill me? i stopped in the other day and inquired about their current “secret menu*” (something ALWAYS worth doing when dining there), and they pointed me towards a brand new vegan big mac. i can say without hesitation that this was the most gigantic, delicious, ridiculous burger i’ve ever eaten. nothing else comes close. if you’re feeling like having a healthy, light-eating day, stay away from this thing. if you want the a vegan burger that you’ll remember for years to come, proceed.
this thing was what a real big mac should look like (massive, not smashed the way fast food always is), except it was 100% vegan. two huge beefy patties, tons of melty vegan cheese (look at it in the bottom left of the picture!), creamy special sauce, lettuce, onion, (i got mine w/o pickles), double bread, and a sesame seed bun. we all know how much i love doomie’s, but they’ve really outdone themselves this time. get over there and beg them to let you try it.
but wait, there’s more…Tags: big mac, burger, fries, hollywood, nachos
if you want hearty vegan comfort food, there’s absolutely no better place in LA to get it than doomie’s home cookin‘ in hollywood. the all vegetarian (and mostly vegan) restaurant recently reopened, and i swung by last week with the team from clara’s cakes to check them out. good god, it was all fantastic—after a plate of nachos, 2 burgers, a pulled pork sandwich, a ham & cheese croissant, and a massive brownie, we could barely walk.
doomie himself was in the kitchen and was delighted to tell us that he was working on a new vegan cheese—one that stretches, melts, and tastes like the real thing. he’s already using it in the croissants, and offered to let us test it out on our burgers. hell yes.
let me work backwards though, and start off by telling you about the croissant…
the vegan croissants at doomie’s are gigantic—definitely big enough to be an entire meal—and they’re stuffed full of homemade vegan cheese and sliced soy ham. i used to love real ham and cheese croissants when i was a kid (gross, i know), and these really took me back to my childhood donut shop days. absolutely amazing. the flaky pastry shell was so “buttery” and realistic. and the cheese inside is eerily close to the real thing.
even if you eat yourself silly at doomie’s like i did, grab a croissant to go. they heat right up in the oven and taste as good as new.
the new vegan cheese was just as insane on doomie’s already delicious burgers. check out how real this stuff looks…Tags: burgers, croissant, nachos, vegan cheese
AWESOME NEWS. doomie’s home cookin’ (ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS EVER) recently had to shutter do to an electrical fire, but they’re set to re-open this weekend! get over there and eat your face off. i highly recommend the chili cheeseburger, country fried steak, or pot roast. order your meal with onion rings, and get some vegan creme brûlée for dessert.
welcome back, doomie’s!

as you may already know, doomie’s home cookin’ (one of the greatest vegetarian restaurants in los angeles), suffered a fire a couple months ago and had to temporarily shut down. thankfully the repairs are officially done, and now they just need to tidy the place up a bit so they can open.
doomie’s is holding a cleaning party today at their hollywood restaurant from 1-8pm. please come help out for as long as you like, any time within those hours. they’ll have snacks on hand, as well a visit by the frankenstand at 3 o’clock.
here’s the official info…Tags: hollywood

plus, a mere ten bucks for a bottomless serving of the insanity that is doomie’s cuisine is just way too good to pass up, no matter what the circumstances. here are the details:Tags: all you can eat, buffet, doomie's, holiday

what happens when a skilled gourmet pastry chef gets access to the place that makes the best vegan home cookin’ known to man? fancy desserts at doomie’s!
to contrast the fried oreos and ice cream they normally offer, doomie’s has enlisted the help of a super high class treat maker to design a dessert menu that will blow your mind. they were testing the menu this weekend and some people i know personally said the new goods are INCREDIBLE. check out the pix that doomie’s just posed to their facebook. all this stuff is available NOW.Tags: dessert, hollywood
you guys probably already know melisser from her blog the urban housewife, but now she’s gone and gotten all legit with her own book and everything…
holy crap, guys! i thought doomie’s couldn’t get any better! the entirely vegetarian comfort food joint opened in hollywood not even two weeks ago, and since then they have been supplying LA with the best vegan burgers known to man, cruelty-free country fried steak with gravy, onion rings, chili “cheese” fries, deep-fried oreos, and more. as if all that awesomeness wasn’t enough, now doomie’s is selling clara’s cakes, stuff you need to try ASAP…
the wait is over! doomie’s home cookin’ is officially open for business. right now their hours are tuesday through sunday from noon to 10pm, and at the moment they are cash only…so go prepared. we checked them out over their opening weekend, and as usual the food was insane. have a look at what we ordered, and scroll to the bottom of the post to see the full doomie’s menu.
deciding what to eat was a challenge, because everything at doomie’s sounded so damn good. the appetizer selection was ridiculous…from jalapeno poppers, to buffalo legs, to chili cheese fries…i wanted it all! we practiced some restraint though, and decided to split just two main courses.Tags: burger, doomie's, hollywood
