well now, this is exciting! there’s a new vegan adventure in town, and it’s called urban food crawl. the group plans to give weekly meat-free eating tours around the city, and the first one is on august 20th in downtown LA.
this actually sounds really freaking cool. a great excuse to try new food, meet new people, and explore our city. they haven’t disclosed the menu for the first tour yet, but here’s what one of the organizers has to say about it…

October 12th, 2010vegan events
quick heads up, peeps! one of our favorite vegan bloggers and cook book authors, jennshaggy, has teamed up with her wife jane and started a new non-profit girls night called “MaNiC” at skinny’s in north hollywood. it goes down every thursday at 10pm, and as jenn puts it, “Even if you’re not gay, there’s an excellent reason to attend because part of the proceeds are being donated to the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. And did I mention 2 for 1 drinks until 11pm for all the ladies out there? Come on. How can you beat that.”
drinking with friends for charity?! sounds good to me. i will definitely be there on thursday to support…how about you?!
MaNiC will also be donating to animal rights charities in the near future, but until then, let’s show that we are all about the gay and lesbian cause. get out and support our vegan friend as well as the LGBT community!
plus, the people who go to this shindig obviously wear some very cool clothes. (i’m looking at you, chick on the left):
for more info check out MaNiC’s facebook page, their website, and their event page for this week!

worldfest this year was fucking epic. were you there? ARE you there? i mean, it’s going on until 7pm, so if you read this post in time, seriously get over there.
i just got home, and i must say it was an incredible day of drinking and eating. many hours were spent in the beer garden sipping on bottle after bottle of lagunitas ipa and czech style pilsner. after several helpings of beer and several sets of loud ska music (the drinking area is located right next to the main stage), we decided to make the rounds and eat as much as we possibly could before heading home. the highlights of the day were as follows:
