sadly, we were otherwise engaged and missed the epic all you can eat vegan buffet at savyon today. however, ken from living eco was kind enough to send us loads of photos just to make us jealous. i thought i’d share them with you guys in tonight’s quick bite.

vegan minions, please make it priority to check out savyon ASAP. they’ve recently added a separate all vegan menu, and their food is apparently delicious. unfortunately, the turn out for today’s buffet wasn’t super impressive…so they may not do it again in the future. WHAT?! that’s fucked up! let’s show them that the vegan demand in LA is strong. we need more options, always. go to savyon and order off the vegan menu, pronto. alright, i will step down off my soapbox now and share ken’s great pictures from the buffet. here ya go:

    VEGAN STUFFED PIZZA!

    vegan pasta bar? yes!

    happy vegans!

  • I think I just died a little death 😉

  • seriously, savyon, give a little more notice next time and we vegans will show up in force.

  • That looks fucking amazing. If I hadn’t been at work at the time…

  • That looks epic. I don’t even care what the price is.

  • La petit mort? O.o Yes, it all looks good.

This place is pretty far for me but I could probably make a detour next time I hit the county museum or The El Rey.

  • Gauri Radha गौरी राधा

    Very cool!!

  • i thought about going, but the two times i’ve been to all-you-can-eat vegan buffets it’s been a disaster (lack of food). so i guess i was hoping they’d work out any this weekend and i’d attend later.

savyon…PLEASE do it again. i will go next time you do!!!

  • You guys ALL have to go next time, delicious foods! Unfortunately, my boyfriend is not vegan but he’s always happy to check out new places with me and he liked the food a lot too. Bring non-vegans too, I’m pretty sure they’ll like it too 🙂

  • I had a delicious lunch at Sayyon today, and he said that the vegan buffet was happening again on Sunday, April 3 between 11:30am and 4pm. $8.99 all you can eat! Thanks so much for turning me on to this restaurant, QuarryGirl! I am so there on Sunday!!!

  • Oops! I meant Savyon. Buffet at 11:30Am to 4 on Sunday, Apr. 3. Horray for Savi! He is going to try again for we vegans!!!

  • Savyon Cafe is having another vegan buffet 11:30AM to 4PM on Sunday, April 10, 2011! The turn out was great yesterday, but he ran out of food. He said he was going to do some things to avoid running out of food next week.

  • FYI, Sunday May 1st will be the last opportunity to get the Savyon buffet for only $8.99 per person.

“Due to the major increase in food costs, Savi has decided that he must raise the price of the vegan all-you-can eat buffet to $10.99 starting on Sunday, May 8th. Still an amazing deal, considering most of the buffet ingredients are USDA certified organic/locally grown. The great news is, for just 2 dollars more, the buffet will include dessert!”

  • THE SAVYON CAFE ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT BUFFET IS NO LONGER ALL VEGAN (as of July 2011).

The buffet now costs $12.99 ($14.25 with tax). They had 2 obvious meat dishes in the buffet. One was chicken and the other was a meat and pasta dish. They also had some kind of bean dish, but that had a meat broth base. The panini’s were vegetarian, but they made some vegan panini’s for me. There was still plenty of vegan food there for me to eat. They didn’t have any dessert though.

FYI, they offer the same buffet on Saturdays from 11:30AM to 4:00PM, and a dinner buffet on Saturdays from 5:00PM to 9:00PM.

    Some things they should do:

Update the info on their website to reflect the change in the price and to indicate that the buffet now has vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes.

Put labels on the buffet dishes so people will know what is vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

Put up some screen doors to keep the flies out of the restaurant and out of the buffet.
