vegan all you can eat this sunday (plus a new vegan menu) at savyon!
14March 25th, 2011LA restaurants, savyon cafewhoa LA vegan dudes, this is epic! in the past few days, savyon cafe on pico has not only added an entirely new and separate vegan menu…but they’ve decided to offer an ALL YOU CAN EAT VEGAN LUNCH this sunday from 11:30am-4:00pm for $8.99. do you already have plans? cancel that shit! you know you gotta go to this.
i haven’t eaten at savyon yet, but i’m dying to check this place out. they have some positive vegan yelp reviews, and the owner is all about making the menu super vegan-friendly. i mean, they are holding an exclusively vegan all you can eat special this weekend with over 20 items! i can’t even name a vegan restaurant in this town that’s willing to do that.
savyon is taking the healthy vegan route, and their entire menu is made from scratch with real, unprocessed ingredients. here’s a menu of what’s going to be at the all you can eat special this sunday:
Cold salads spreads & dips
Hummus
Slim slaw (cabbage)
Chickpea & and sun dried tomatoes
Roasted veggies
Spicy carrot salad
Sweet carrot salad
Cucumber dill
Red cabbage salad
Avocado salad
Herb tomatoes
Spicy beet saladVeggie salads
Mediterranean harvest
Mediterano saladHot & Warm Dishes
Veggie pasta
Veggie wraps
Veggies curry
Green beans in tomato & pepper sauce
Parazili with nuts pesto & veggies spread
Falafel
Quinoa
Wild riceWe plan to have more dishes depending upon what’s available in the markets.
all sounds fantastic to me. the owner of savyon cafe has indicated that this could be a weekly thing if it’s popular. hell yes, we need more vegan buffets in LA—we only have two right now that i can think of (correct me if i’m wrong)!
in addition to the sunday menu, the “normal” vegan menu at savyon looks incredible. it’s filled with appetizing paninis, salads, pastas, and variety plates. again, all unprocessed and healthy foods. this should make you people who like to complain about fake meat and cheese very happy!
let’s go show savyon some support this sunday! see you guys there. i’ll be in the corner with 8 plates of hummus.

I’m there.

Sounds kinda good; too bad they’re not within walking—or quick bus—distance.

I don’t mind at all 🙂
I just did a double take when I saw the photo. It’s up on Yelp so I’m assuming that’s where the restaurant got it: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/FdPUaYhtnvoilmSWTMDJAQ?select=ZmqBP4EaFj-2MSrnP2726w -

I just heard that Savyon is having another all vegan buffet on Sunday, April 3 from 11:30AM to 4PM. SWEET! $8.99 all you can eat! Quarrygirl…I owe ya one for turning me on to this restaurant!!! Seriously! I saw the pics you posted from his buffet last Sunday, and will DEFINITELY be going this coming Sunday! C’mon vegans! We gotta keep this guy in business! He seemed like he would change his entire menu to vegan if he can make enough money to survive doing it. He’s such an awesome chef!

I went on Sunday, April 3rd. It was very good. Are they going to have the vegan buffet again?

FYI, Sunday May 1st will be the last opportunity to get the Savyon buffet for only $8.99 per person.

“Due to the major increase in food costs, Savi has decided that he must raise the price of the vegan all-you-can eat buffet to $10.99 starting on Sunday, May 8th. Still an amazing deal, considering most of the buffet ingredients are USDA certified organic/locally grown. The great news is, for just 2 dollars more, the buffet will include dessert!”

THE SAVYON CAFE ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT BUFFET IS NO LONGER ALL VEGAN (as of July 2011).
The buffet now costs $12.99 ($14.25 with tax). They had 2 obvious meat dishes in the buffet. One was chicken and the other was a meat and pasta dish. They also had some kind of bean dish, but that had a meat broth base. The panini’s were vegetarian, but they made some vegan panini’s for me. There was still plenty of vegan food there for me to eat. They didn’t have any dessert though.
FYI, they offer the same buffet on Saturdays from 11:30AM to 4:00PM, and a dinner buffet on Saturdays from 5:00PM to 9:00PM.
Some things they should do:
Update the info on their website to reflect the change in the price and to indicate that the buffet now has vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes.
Put labels on the buffet dishes so people will know what is vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
Put up some screen doors to keep the flies out of the restaurant and out of the buffet.
