all you can eat vegan buffet returns to savyon AGAIN! how long can we keep this up, folks?
18April 6th, 2011LA restaurants, savyon cafehave you been following this savyon cafe stuff?! two weeks ago, the pico restaurant introduced an all vegan sunday lunch buffet.
they debuted with an epic spread, but nobody showed up to eat it. they figured they should cease the buffet due to low attendance, but still decided to give it another go. this time, though, TOO MANY people showed up…and savyon ran out of food! it’s a shame, because apparently their cuisine is like insane, tasty, life-altering shit. check out the yelp reviews about the buffet—they make me feel like WE ALL NEED TO EAT THIS FOOD IN UNLIMITED PORTIONS….
well, i’m happy to report that savyon is trying again for a third week in a row on sunday april 10th. this time, they are going to make more food and even add a FALAFEL BAR to the all you can eat buffet. not sure exactly what a falafel bar is, but i want to experience it.
you know the old saying, “3rd time’s a charm”? let’s apply that to savyon cafe. let’s all show up and bring the demand for a vegan buffet…and trust the fact that they’ve gotten their kinks worked out.
for those of you who were turned away last week, that blows! savyon supposedly issued 50% off coupons to you lot, so i hope they found you well. let’s try again on sunday. WE NEED ALL THE VEGAN BUFFETS WE CAN GET IN THIS TOWN. (she said selfishly)
unlimited. hummus. you know it makes sense.

A falafel bar? Genius.
I really hope the third time’s the charm, and that Savyon can turn this into an ongoing event.

QG! Basically the bar consisted of toppings and sauces to accompany the delicious, delightful hot & fresh falafel balls. MORE hummus, AMAZING homemade tahini, peppers, possibly chopped veggies and/or ‘kraut (but don’t quote me on those).
This place was so so so good. Everyone needs to go! -

I’m rolling to this tomorrow like I’m storming the shores of Normandy!

The food is really good and they still had plenty there when I left at around 2pm. I hope they had enough people show up to keep doing the vegan buffet.

Yeah! Savyon Cafe is having their %8.99 all-you-can-eat buffet every Sunday from 11:30AM to 4PM! Thanks, Quarrygirl! Thanks vegans!

Their falafel bar is a small food station where there is sliced pita bread in which you can put their falafel balls into, plus other food items to stuff the pita bread with to make your own falafel.

FYI, Sunday May 1st will be the last opportunity to get the Savyon buffet for only $8.99 per person.

“Due to the major increase in food costs, Savi has decided that he must raise the price of the vegan all-you-can eat buffet to $10.99 starting on Sunday, May 8th. Still an amazing deal, considering most of the buffet ingredients are USDA certified organic/locally grown. The great news is, for just 2 dollars more, the buffet will include dessert!”

THE SAVYON CAFE ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT BUFFET IS NO LONGER ALL VEGAN (as of July 2011).
The buffet now costs $12.99 ($14.25 with tax). They had 2 obvious meat dishes in the buffet. One was chicken and the other was a meat and pasta dish. They also had some kind of bean dish, but that had a meat broth base. The panini’s were vegetarian, but they made some vegan panini’s for me. There was still plenty of vegan food there for me to eat. They didn’t have any dessert though.
FYI, they offer the same buffet on Saturdays from 11:30AM to 4:00PM, and a dinner buffet on Saturdays from 5:00PM to 9:00PM.
Some things they should do:
Update the info on their website to reflect the change in the price and to indicate that the buffet now has vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes.
Put labels on the buffet dishes so people will know what is vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
Put up some screen doors to keep the flies out of the restaurant and out of the buffet.
