hey everyone! this is a HUGE day, because the famed goldberg sisters of spork foods have officially relocated to their new space. the popular cooking class and catering duo have called silverlake their home up until recently…now, however they are operating out of a very roomy commercial space in weho, and of course we were there to check out their brand new new digs.

the official “opening party” was tonight, and it went a little something like this:

    food and drinks galore!

nonstop snacks and alcohol! you name it, they probably had it. appetizers, drinks, music, it was the right vibe from the get-go.

    a good crowd, very important.

the sporks party also had a good crowd. i showed up shortly after the starting time, and left a couple hours later…the whole while i kept running into lovely people who were excited about this new vegan addition to LA. by the time i left, a bouncer was getting serious about not letting newbies in! the place was PACKED…

    "you on da list?!"

it almost goes w/o saying, but the food at this shindig was PHE-NOM-EN-AL!

    assorted truffles!

first up, the assorted truffles. heavenly ‘lil chocolate balls that vanished immediately.

    corn fritters wit truffle aioli

the corn fritters were equally astonishing—these cute suckers were flavorful and came topped with some of the best aioli i’ve ever tasted. i think i am gonna stalk the class schedule, in hopes that i will learn the secret.

there were also some amazing dips on hand…

sundried tomato, kalamata olive, and cashew cheese 3 layer dip.

this was INCREDIBLE. creamy, thick, beyond rich….stuff vegans dream about. there was also another very sumptuous dip, but i didn’t catch his name:

lastly, there was the perfect dessert:

vanilla spiced cupcakes with whipped cocoa frosting!

there was also some bad ass music going down at this party….

they had an awesome dj booth, and of course the djs were eating cupcakes.

    not to mention FACE PAINTING…

(it makes you feel like a kid again! <3)

rory freedman herself was there, signing books and socializing with fans…

    plus, a patio!!!!…

    where the cool kids hang

…not to mention, the sporkies themselves just hangin’ with people and real-talkin….

they were all about telling us that people should go watch the upcoming movie bold native. i happen to agree; it sounds incredible.

all in all, the spork foods opening party was a HUGE success. i left just as it was getting crazy, and i thoroughly enjoyed myself. as LA vegans, i think we should all love this new space where vegan cooking and a sense of community is embraced. these spork sisters know how to make some awesome food, and how to throw a damn good party!

    please check out their website,

be sure to sign up for some of their cooking classes,

    and follow them on twitter!

    <3

PS: if you want to attend an event an awesome event at the spork foods space and meet tons of new vegans, be sure to rsvp for this month’s vegan drinks on june 30th. it should be a blast!

Look fun. wish i were there.
I found this new product called Happy Pho by this company called Star Anise Foods – it’s a tasty Vietnamese brown rice noodles soup that I’m literally addicted to as I can get a nutritious vegan meal together in 10 mins. You can get them at Amazon.com or grocery stores in Northern California. Yum! ttp://staranisefoods.com/find-us.aspx

  • Great photos! Wish I had made it there earlier because there was barely any food left when I got there – now I see what I missed out on! Good to see you for a moment. : )

I only got a chance to get a little bit of food (it DID go pretty quickly) but it was UH-MAZING. And the Spork girls are such lovely people.

  • Even though it was packed, the new Spork place is rad. Their classes are great for vegan newbies and long timers alike. Can’t wait to take one in the new kitchen. It was fun to see so many people at this event. And yes, the corn fritters were to die for.

  • How cool !!

  • You know you’ve made it when your pic appears on Quary Girl! Plus, we got the title of “cool kids on the balcony.” I’d love to say hi some time! Fun night.

  • Was such a fun night. Can’t believe QuarryGirl was walking among us and and I didn’t know! Would love to meet you someday.

  • I had a blast last night! So awesome to be in a huge group of wonderful vegans. The Spork Sisters are two of the most amazing women I know and I’m thrilled for their success. The space is gorgeous and the food last night was delicious! I loved the corn fritters and the spiced cupcakes and the candied-ginger-laced truffles the best, I think. πŸ™‚

  • P.S. “Bold Native” is AMAZING and a must-see. I can’t wait to see it again in a couple weeks.

  • I’m so happy for Jenny and Heather. I started attending their classes in Silverlake shortly after they got started about 2 years ago. They are so lovely. I wish them the very best in their new space.

  • The best part is that I can now walk to them from my house!
