quick bites: vegan pizza at 900 degrees in NYC
7July 23rd, 2011more restaurants (not LA), NYChey everyone, time for another quickbite from our resident pizza expert jon. you may remember him from the garage pizza review, or the post about john’s of 12th street. his brother is scott of scott’s pizza tours, so obviously a love of pizza runs in the family. anyways here’s his take on 900 degrees, a new pizzeria in manhattan’s west village…
900 Degrees in NYC is amazing. It’s just over a month old and they have a few options on the menu for vegetarians and vegans. Some pizzas are not on the menu, but are totally vegan and totally amazing.
Chef, Audrey Sherman, made me a pizza with a roasted garlic white bean spread, fried leeks, sicilian black olives, white asparagus and swiss chard sprinkled with olive oil.
90 seconds in the wood-fired brick oven and we were in business. The crust was chewy and crunchy. Every ingredient complimented one another.
Audrey mentioned plans for some other vegan pies, so if you go to 900 Degrees, be sure to ask what kind of vegan pizzas they can make.

Looks amazing! I am not a fan of the daiya cheese pizzas, it doesn’t fit my palate, and to see a vegan pizza without any sort of cheese looks yummy!!

[…] 900 Degrees (29 7th Ave S), my latest favorite, was next and last. They took us out. While the first time I went, I loved the tomato pies, this time the margherita far outshined. Also, we tried the Roman pie, which gives you essentially 3 courses of pizza in one. Tony, the owner from San Francisco was even there to help us navigate the menu. He’s a great guy who cares about his pizza and being awesome. I hope they do well. Mmm, I do still like that Trenton pie. Their version may have made up for us not having it in Jersey. […]
