aw shucks! recently we blogged that the much anticipated mohawk bend would be opening its doors on june 28th. unfortunately, the gastropub has been delayed until further notice. lemme tell you, i got a personal tour of the mohawk space over the weekend and it is INSANE. i think it’s gonna be the best place to eat and drink in town, especially for vegans! there are like 8 million beer taps, two cask pumps, a dedicated vegan fryer, and a gigantic dedicated vegan pizza oven! gaaaaaah, i have never been so excited about a place opening before! here’s the official/unofficial word from team mohawk:

“Mohawk’s opening has been delayed, unfortunately. We are hoping to open as soon as we can and want to thank everyone for your patience and support. We can’t wait to open!”

so, stretch out and wait! we’ll keep you posted with as much mohawk news as we can.

  • Bummer, that place looks awesome.
Good things come to thoses. . . . and all that jazz

    The space looks cool inside.
Getting a new location off the ground is fraught with challenges, so delays can be understandable. Good luck to them to open soon!

  • During your hiatus, I’d suggest redesigning the marquee. Such a great building to work with but such a lame sign!

  • I’m sure this was just so R could be in town for the opening…right? 😉

  • Nooo! I drive by this place everyday on the way home from work and when they first started construction it looked almost too good to be true and I just assumed it was a fake restaurant facade being created for some sort of major studio filming that would block the streets and inconvenience us all because it looks all professional and glossy-like. I live about 4 blocks south of the new Mowhawk Bend just off Sunset, so I am used to the notices on the front door regarding the constant filming in our neighborhood, but it’s primarily indie and generally unobtrusive, but Mohawk looked so fancy… I was so so so excited to hear of the their true intentions about a week ago, upon actually googling to find the facebook fully equipped with quarrygirl comments! I can’t wait ’til this place opens so i can walk up, eat, drink and stumble full and happy home quite often! and on another note-there are so many old theaters in this city and others (my old neighborhood-the mission in sf for example) that would be amazing restaurants, music venues or even theaters again, I’m so glad to see one that has been a boarded up eyesore become something accessible and desirable again!

  • like i said, it looks bogus… i’ll believe it’s really only when i it tones down and the vegan food speaks for itself…
