sad news: the meet market is CLOSING TODAY
27August 30th, 2010LA restaurants, meet market (closed)today is a very sad day, because our beloved meet market is closing its doors for good. the small vegan restaurant and convenience store has been a favorite of ours since it opened in november last year, with its cheap hearty sandwiches, all you can eat brunches, and specialty grocery items. we are gonna miss this place SO MUCH, but let’s send them off today in a big way!
vegan reuben: rye bread, 1000 island, sauerkraut, marinated wheat meat, balsamic beats & daiya mozzarella. $4.95
if you haven’t tried the amazing vegan reuben from the meet market yet, this is gonna be your last chance. it’s huge, delicious, and it’s under 5 bucks. go grab one today, and while you are there load up on groceries….because they’ve got everything from daiya to cleaning supplies, and they are ALL gonna be 50% OFF.
sad, sad, sad! but at least we have one more day to enjoy this wonderful little place.

It’s my first day back at class, and was looking forward to getting lunch there every other day for the rest of the semester!
Now I have it just for my first day. ='(Must tell friends so we can go cry and eat together.

What in the fucking fuck!?!?!?! I was gonna go have brunch there yesterday, but I’m getting over a cold and thought that wouldn’t be cool to go to a buffet like that ….I was gonna go this upcoming weekend. Wah! 🙁
I know QG isn’t too into the asian places – but House of Vege in Lomita just closed, and that bummed me out too…..I hope this isn’t a trend. Stay open, vegan places!!!!!!

Wow, that’s sad. I would have gone there more often if I lived closer to Silver Lake. I didn’t even get to try their Nutella yet. The times I went in the afternoon I was usually the only one there. I’m guessing the lease is up at the end of August so Miranda kept it rolling for us vegans until then.

2. They close at 7. (wtf) Pretty much limits dining to locals.
3. A leftover bad rep from Vegan Joint days. I’m sorry it’s closing, but I’m not too surprised. -

I went today with my gf for a final Reuben.
I will miss their brunches a lot.
btw today was a nightmare, one worker and everyone scooping up groceries and putting in food orders. It took an hour for food.

both times i went here they didn’t even have bread to make sandwiches with. the employee was calling to the other restaurant and asking for bread and no one seemed to care. he sent us away with a kombucha (which we paid for). doomed.

i`m finally in LA and i want to say thank u to post this, `cause it made me rush to meet market today to try this reuben, and OMG, its fantastic!
but i must agree w/ vladski… was a nightmare. we wait for about 50 minutes to eat…
anyways, it sad news. the place seems to be very nice… -
Really sucks. ONLY decent veggie breakfast place. SO glad we randomly went last Sunday.

I will miss this place especially the Chef Salad…the absolute best! and the Ruben was 100 times better than Locali.

We were loyal brunch customers who will miss not only the great food, but the great guy that kept it all together at the end. He faced empty rooms and mob scenes and never lost his smile. I wish him well.

I highly doubt Doomies will re-open. I’m not sure a vegan restaurant which already went out of business is going to open in a spot where 3 vegan restaurants already failed.
And yes, their hours weren’t great, and they definitely carried some of the rep from the previous 2 restaurants in there.

Doomie’s indeed! I blame Doomie’s Home Cookin for this one.. the negative press from their buffets really killed the reputation of this place.
