    today is officially the first day of summer, and what better way to celebrate than to do a dandies giveaway with our friends at chicago soydairy!

    if you haven’t tried dandies yet, they are the tastiest, most realistic vegan marshmallows ever. they go great in rice krispies treats, hot chocolate, and smores…the perfect treat now that camping season is upon us. chicago soydairy is giving away AN ENTIRE MONTH’S SUPPLY of these beauties (4 bags!) to one lucky reader, so get ready and enter the contest.

    here’s what you need to do for a chance to win a month’s supply of dandies:
    1.) you must “like” chicago soydairy on facebook. (do that by clicking HERE.)
    2.) you must leave a comment on this blog post about dandies.
    3.) you must leave your real, valid email address when you submit your comment. (the public won’t see this, just me…so i can contact you if you win!)

    I ADORE Dandies! Their jet-puffed vegan awesomeness puts a huge smile on my face. I recently made some s’mores brownies with them that got devoured before they were even completely cooled. So delicious.

    If I win they will be put to good use: Homemade rocky road ice cream, my locally world famous rocky road chocolate cookies, and krispy treats. I think I’ll save the last bag for a pillow and late night secret eating.

  • Wanted to add: I do enjoy the flavors of the Sweet & Sara marshmallows, so we get them too…as a very occasional candy treat, though, not as our regular “marshmallows.” (There’s room on everyone’s grocery list for more than one brand of yummy treats.)

    Dandies are the ONLY choice for toasted marshmallows, s’mores, banana boats,…really, anything that people use conventional gelatin-based marshmallows for. There’s no equivalent anywhere. We are so glad Chicago Soydairy figured out how to make them!!

    One word: Delicious! I have a smell and taste sensitivity and can pretty much tell the difference. Dandies mallows taste no different than the regular animal by products. I’m looking forward to this Thanksgiving to making my yams with these mallows. This is a brilliant item for vegans like myself.

  • although being vegan is one of the greatest things you can do for yourself, other creatures and the planet, it has a minor downfall: feeling left out. now, everyone knows camping is essential for a good summer, but it usually includes very omnivorous activites like hot dog eating, beer drinking, and s’mores making. vegan hot dogs and beers can be deliciously substituted, but s’mores are more difficult to modify. that is, until dandies showed up! dandies are the most delicious, planet-friendly marshmallows i have ever laid tastebuds on! the texture, burning/melting qualities, and taste are absolutely spot on. with some vegan grahams, dark chocolate, and dandies, i’m right back to that perfect camping trip. cheers to chicago soy dairy!

  • I was already a fan of chicago soydairy before they started making dandies — my only complaint is that they are always out when I need them (and, oh, do I NEED them!)

  • I couldn’t have s’mores when I went camping this past week because veg-friendly marshmallows are impossible to find in my area, and I am a s’more fiend, so I NEED THESE ! 😀

  • Dandies are seriously the best vegan marshmallows (no refrigeration required)! Great for rice krispy treats or just to eat out of the bag. Highly recommended! Better buy two bags whenever you order some.

  • I used to make Rice Krispie treats with Ricemllow, until Dandies came to town. They are great! The first time I used Dandies to make the treats, my wooden spatual snapped in half. Perhaps due to the intense amazingness of Dandies… but more likely because the pan wasn’t hot enough and Dandies weren’t melting all the way. Anyway, that won’t happen again.

    I would love to have a Summer supply of vegan marshmallows!

  • Dandies – are just that – just DANDY!!!!
    Got them from Vegan Essentials – I am lucky enough that my parents live near to the Milwaukee area and am able to go to the Store Directly and I cant tell you it doesnt get any better then that!! And one of the best reasons is being able in one place get me some tasty delicious Chicago Dairy Products – Those who do not know – the Green Tea Ice Cream – and even better the Peach Cobler Ice Cream are to die for!!!!

  • These are such a blessing to my GF/vegan daughter. We usually travel about 50 minutes each way when we want our fix of these. It’s one of the few vegan items my parents will eat … last fall, we put them on top of our Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole and the whole big omnivorous family ate it up without hestiation!

    Of course, I know that four bags of Dandies won’t make it to Thanksgiving. But we’ll have a GREAT time munching them down nonetheless!

  • Dandies are like little pieces of puffed heaven. My friend gave me a couple bags a few months ago & I have been in love with them ever since. Being a vegetarian now for 20 years I have not had rice krispie treats in a very very long time. I was so excited to be able to have them again. They we delicious and my non-veggie friends thought so too!

  • Chicago Soydairy: My son Zach is 20 and has been a vegetarian on his own since he was 7 years old. Even though I get created with meals for him, He has missed out on some great treats and other foods. He does not eat gelatin, red dye, any bases,seafood animal and or fats. I would love for him to have the opportunity to eat rice crispy treats, marshmallows for over the campfire and smores, hot coco and other delicious things he has never experienced.     In any event, Dandies have made marshmallows doable again. Seriously, I keep a bag on the counter just for s’mores but would love to try them in a bunch of recipes. Or send some to friends who can’t get them in their towns.
