quick bites: spitz vegan-friendly happy hour in downtown LA
3October 29th, 2011LA restaurants, spitzhey guys, you know the drill! time for another quick bite from trishells. this one is about a vegan-friendly happy hour in downtown LA.
this past weekend i hit up one of my favorite joints with one of my favorite vegans, @greatbrittania. spitz not only has great food but also has a happy hour that runs all weekend long. *glug glug glug* even though they serve some pretty gross meat selections, when you order at spitz you can be pretty confident about ordering vegan. not only does the menu clearly mark the vegan items but when you order and they put it in the computer you see a big red “VEGAN” come up on the screen that makes me smile every time.
the offerings are minimal but think quality, not quantity. falafel and veggies come in the forms of wraps, sandwiches and salads that are full of flavor…
i used to order the sandwich regularly because the bread was so tasty but since i always ended up eating it like a salad (with a fork) i usually now just order the salad.
Brittany is always the wiser and i’ve only seen her order the wrap. it works for her.
if you are looking for vegan food with a kick down town (i’ve never been to the eagle rock location) head directly to spitz i really love this place and have been known to spend hours there because i am a ridiculously slow eater and, well… what’s the rush when it’s happy hour?

Spitz is great! The original location in Eagle Rock is such a great little neighborhood hang-out spot. I love the fries and pita chips w hummus!

Why have I never heard of this place? I love falafel and beer, so this sounds perfect!

I’ve eaten here a few times when I was eating dairy. The food is tremendous! (fries, falafel, etc) Will just have to leave off the feta!
