vegan pizza with chreese!
8May 14th, 2011products, vegan cheesei know i’m like a decade late to this craze, but lately i have been totally obsessed with nutritional yeast based cheese sauces. they’re healthier than processed vegan cheese, and pack a ton of flavor without any kind of weird texture or chemical aftertaste. where has this stuff been all my life? i can’t get ’nuff of the nooch!
my most recent nut-yeast addiction comes in the form of mozzarella chreese by road’s end organics…
i actually got this stuff at first in a gift bag at the recent vegan cinco de mayo party, and i’ve been on it ever since. i know it’s commonplace to use noochy sauces in stuff like macaroni and cheese and atop nachos, but it never occurred to me to try it on a pizza.
the method is simple: you just heat the chreese in a pot with some water, then pour it on the pizza before you bake it. i was afraid the texture would be strange and runny, but it solidified in the oven and was fantastic!
you can get by with one packet of chreese per pie, but i’d suggest using 2 or 3…because the more mozzarella, the better. as an added bonus, this stuff isn’t fattening like the other leading vegan cheese brands, so you can eat like 4 times the amount of pizza and not feel all gross. give it a try!

I’ve never liked nutritional yeast. Some people (even non-vegetarians) sprinkle it on popcorn. Those people are nasty.

^ Ahaha!! I put it on popcorn all the time! With melted Earth Balance and salt. Tastes great to me.

I often pour it straight into my mouth-hole and swirl it around into a nifty paste and then swallow it down. Mmm, good on salads, pasta, popcorn, straight into mouth-hole.

Love Roads End…
I have been using the mozza style and cheddar style for years. I used to order it from VeganStore.com but now I get it at Follow Your Heart market. The fettuccine packet is also really handy for a quick but tasty white sauce.
Their mushroom gravy is so yummy too.
Oh, and the boxed 123’s and Chreese is really awesome.
I pretty much love Edward & Sons products: the Organic Instant Garlic Potatoes rock, the Chreese line is amazing, and Sprinkelz are the best thing ever! Thanks for posting on this great product and supporting a wonderful company!

Have you tried this yet?
Nacho Mom’s vegan queso. A friend just gave me a jar and it’s also nutritional yeast-based.

I really enjoyed Nacho Moms Queso when I picked some up at Whole Foods. It went well with the Organic Blue Corn 365 brand tortilla chips, it does get eaten really quick though!
