as if you didn’t have enough motivation to head to hugo’s tacos, did you know that the atwater village location always has TWO flavors of VEGAN SOFT SERVE? and that they offer VEGAN ROOT BEER FLOATS? i’m not making this up…

the current soft serve flavors are chocolate and banana, and you can get a vegan root beer float for just $2.05 with the quarrygirl discount! i ordered one with chocolate, and it totally blew my mind.

it’s also always fun to get the “frozato” aka vegan soft serve in a cup, with a swirl of the 2 flavors. here is the chocolate and banana mixed together:

just be sure to ask for it in a cup, because the waffle cones are not vegan!

cancel your plans tonight and hit up hugo’s tacos for some discount vegan mexican food. you won’t be sorry.

    Thanks QG!!!

Next time I go, I’m going to order that vegan root beer float, that looks great.

  • Aw, I went this morning…no earlybird QG discount…oh wells, tacos were great. 🙂 I hope Studio City location gets that ice cream!!!!

  • i want this stuff bad. it’s a bit of a drive, but seems worth it. thanks qg!!!

  • I was in Atwater village on Saturday and stopped by Hugo’s taco’s. I got a quesadilla and the nacho’s, and my friend dining with me order a bowl. It was underwhelming at best. We agreed that we could’ve prepared it all at home for a fraction of the price (though I will admit that I must’ve been feeling unadventurous, as a quesadilla should be a safe and easy bet anywhere). Everything was soggy! It was like after preparing the dish they added 1/4 cup of water. Even my quesadilla was soggy, and i mean wet, not greasy. Additionally, it was super overpriced for soggy taco stand food, they charged .91 cents extra for vegan cheese, which struck me as too much. Lastly, I’m allergic to nuts, and I saw a sign that said the frozato contained soy and nuts, so I asked if the woman taking orders if all of the ice cream had nuts in it and she said no. When we were leaving I went to order a frozato for the road and asked again “just to be clear, even though this sign says that the ice cream contains nuts, there are flavors that do not” and she said “yes… wait, no.” If I had ordered the ice cream after she had said no the first time I would’ve ended my day in the hospital.
It is bogus and incredibly irresponsible for them to take so much care to vegan/allergen needs and then neglect to fully educate their staff on common allergens in the food.
