new sandwich and desserts at native foods tomorrow!
9December 6th, 2010LA restaurants, native foodshey everyone! tuesday and wednesday of this week, native foods is kicking off “native days,” their monthly celebration of the environment, animals, and food.
to get you in the mood to party, they’ve got a new special holiday entree called the turkey loves rye sandwich, available exclusively for native days (this tuesday and wednesday only!). you better go eat this thing, because it sounds insane: thinly sliced seitan, stuffing, cranberry sauce, lettuce and dijon mayo on marble rye with mushroom gravy. it’s a crime that it will only be offered for two days!
native foods will also be debuting two new desserts…
gingerbread cheesecake and peppermint chocolate cupcakes.
in addition to the new menu items, native foods will also be giving away all kinds of prizes on tuesday and wednesday including shirts, seats to cooking demos, and magazine subscriptions. PLUS, everyone gets a free dessert with the purchase of an entree, side, and drink! here is all the info:
as far as i’m concerned, you have no excuse not to hit up native foods on tuesday or wednesday. the sandwich alone makes attendance mandatory. if you live in los angeles, this is the perfect excuse to hit up their new badass culver city location.

The quality and consistency of the food at native foods has increased dramatically over the past few years (I chalk it up to stiff competition from veggie grill). I’m a big fan of native foods and will definitely be checking this sandwich out!!!

I like Native’s…However it’s not enough food. I’m always hungry after eating their sandwhich & Fries as oppose to Veggie Grill where i feel like i have grubbed down a complete meal. VG gives you thick slices of Soy meat and NF gives you thin slices of Seitan. I will have to put my mouth on those mint cup cakes..looks heavenly!

I wish they had more desserts without the tofu. As a male, I like to avoid soy estrogen.

Oh..and as much love as I have for Native Foods…their wellington for thanksgiving was terrible. Good mashed potatoes, though..not worth the price, though.

from Wikipedia:
Men
Because of the phytoestrogen content, some studies have suggested that soybean ingestion may influence testosterone levels in men. However, a 2010 meta analysis of 15 placebo controlled studies showed that neither soy foods nor isoflavone supplements alter measures of bioavailable testosterone concentrations in men [93] It has been hypothesized that soy foods and enterolactone may protect against the development of prostate cancer although no significant associations were observed for the soy isoflavones.[94] Furthermore, soy consumption has been shown to have no effect on the levels and quality of sperm [95]
