So cool. My husband just started working for Nickelodeon in Burbank. We were trying to figure out where he could eat in case I can’t pack him lunch. Thank you so much for reporting this.
-
Now if they could just toss some Daiya in that, it would be amazing! (Perhaps Tofutti sour cream too?)
It could also come to the OC, that would make me so happy.

OMG YESSSSSSSS
I CAN’T WAIT TILL FRIDAY. MY LIFE IS IN CAPSLOCK RIGHT NOW!

Chicken June 9th, 2010 at 09:30
Regarding Chipotle handling the fake chicken –
Its perfectly fine. I’ve had Garden Blend three or four times in the past two weeks and none of those times was I able to detect anything weird tasting. Generally when I eat something that has been cross contaminated, I can tell right away by the taste of it. This tastes like it was cooked separately, and it tastes vegan.
I’ve been to the one in Woodland Hills. I can’t speak for the other ones, but I know the WH one is vegan-conscious and generally they take great care in keeping things separate.
-
Yes, I agree with @Brenda. Add some Daiya and it would be total bliss. Still going to head out with my wife for an early lunch after reading this article.

It’s still in no way a healthy meal – the gardein burrito is about 1400mg sodium – but it’s a nice option to have at least.

It’s in Pasadena and Burbank!! I will be trying this out very very soon. Thanks QG!! ๐

this still doesn’t change the fact that chipotle uses slave labor to harvest their vegetables. a lot of focus on animals and a casual disregard for the rights of people…
-
Thanks for the birthday wishes! You have all month haha.
I’m so glad they’re offering this at more locations…particularly the one closest to my house ๐

Gregalor June 9th, 2010 at 17:06
Finally, I can stop settling for the plain burrito when I get Chipotle for Burbank lunch breaks at work.
-
@Brett @Ashley you people are so whiny, and as always, make the rest of us normal vegans look like douches. Go start your own blog where you can talk about munching on free range carrots.

@kevin did you seriously just get mad at somebody for caring about something that you personally don’t bother to care about? heads up: the rest of the world thinks “normal vegans” are crazy leftist bleeding heart douchebags. but apparently you alone get to draw the line between caring and caring too much. just go leave everybody alone.

Sooo exciting! My husband and I have been spreading the word everywhere, and getting people to try it. I love that vegan options are really going mainstream.. between Chipotle and Yard House..exciting times. Please everyone continue to spread the word. I want Chipotle to see what a great move they made, and that they’re getting tons of support (and sales)!
One note… we got the Garden blend one time @ Chipotle and it was clearly the dregs sitting out for awhile and really dried out and not as good. They immediately made us a fresh batch upon request. Especially if you’re introducing anyone to it for the first time, make sure it’s a nice fresh batch if possible ๐

i can walk to chipotle. YES!!!!!
i suppose technically everyone can walk to chipotle. that makes things less exciting.

Thanks for the update! My bf and I just went over to the MDR location and ordered up 2 Garden Blend Burritos. They were delicious…and HUGE! Way to big for us to eat in one sitting!

Your post sent me and my co-worker in search of Chipotle. Had never been. We ended up in Encino. Left after scarfing down two gorgeous, yummy burritos. Quite tasty. Prepared on a just-cleaned grill (I watched). The staff seemed to be curious about the choice. The cook we got had never made one but yelled to us from the open kitchen that promised we could refund if he messed it up. By the time they came by the table to check on our verdict… poof… the ‘tos were gone. Good stuff! Thanks for the info.

Every time I hear something awesome about Chipotle, I sing this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdjo8WCjHek

thought it tasted great! awesome spicy kick. Trying to limit gluten intake, so sadly I won’t be having it that often.
-
Going to the MDR one tomorrow. I’m going to attack this thing like I’m storming the beaches of Normandie! Unfortunately, Glendale is the closest to my house, and they’re not on the list, but at least the 2 closest to my office have it.
-
This afternoon my son and I joyfully walked into the Pasadena Chipotle to order the garden blend burrito. They were out! And had forgotten to order more.
So yay for the happy people who were able to order it.
And the chipotle folks said it was selling really well, and they definitely think they will continue to carry it (I guess as long as they remember to order it.)
-
I am going to head to my local Chipotle to try to get it (Laguna Niguel). I am hoping they have it today!
-
Doh! I made the call and they do not have it. In fact the woman who answered was so confused by what I was even trying to ask, she asked someone else in Spanish what I was talking about.
Time to email corporate and beg! ๐ -

Went to the Chipotle in Burbank the other night and had the salad…it was great! I was asking the cashier if it was popular, and she said it’s popular for those who don’t eat meat…the meat eaters who tried it went back to meat. Then she went to the back and got me the ingredients on the package to show me, without me even asking!
They put the adobo sauce on the side – not sure if that’s normal for all of the Chipotles, but I think it’s a good idea – it might be too spicy for some people!
-
I severely assaulted one at lunch yesterday. If never stood a chance. I will be returning.
-
yes! Such an improvement from the vegetarian option! Turns out the pinto beans are cooked with bacon. Ick, technicalities.

Anyone experienced the special bits of ALUMINUM FOIL obtained from Chipotle expert burrito slicing style? Yum!

i went to the studio city location two nights ago to give the garden blend burrito a shot, and i was so disappointed. my server skimped so hard on the veggie chicken that it seemed just like eating the regular veggie burrito, with bits of gardein in it (i got guac too and paid the extra $ for it so it came out to around $7 for the burrito). hopefully the next location i go to won’t be doing that.. otherwise i’ll probably be sticking to the regular veggie burrito.
-
i got the vegan chick’n at the studio city location – posting a full review on my blog – but the manager there was super sweet. loaded both me and my partner’s burrito bowls with the garden blend, she was so enthusiastic about promoting it – asking everyone who declined meat if they wanted to try it and asking us to “tell all our vegan friends” so they make it a permanent part of the menu. i’ll admit that it wasn’t my fav faux chik’n, but if chipotle can make this a permanent part of their menu at ALL locations, road trips will take on a whole new meaning. thanks quarry girl for alerting us to the locations in LA!

I had lunch today at Tender Greens in Hollywood and noticed a Chipotle branch just opened next door. I wonder if they have the garden blend there.

I will have to try this mix. I hope it goes wide because I live in Corona, but I’ll stop by an LA location.
*Not a vegan, but I always appreciate a tasty meat free option* -
FOR ALL VEGANS: They DO cook the vegan chicken on the SAME GRILL as the meat. The manager at the Third Street Promenade told me that if he was vegan, he would NOT EAT HERE!!! It is not safe, plus they are owned by McDonald’s so do we really want support them?
-
marajade September 1st, 2010 at 00:16
Chipotle is NO LONGER owned by McDonald’s… get your facts straight.

Vegan in Vegas September 10th, 2010 at 15:25
Just got a heads up from Chipolte as to why gardein is not nationwide (yet):
“We just want to make sure it will sell too. It hasnโt sold all that well in the restaurants itโs in so far, so weโre working on different things to hopefully make it better tasting and more appealing.”
LA people – please eat gardein more at Chipolte so the vegans in the rest of the country can have it as well! Thank you. ๐

I just went to a Chipotle to try this fabulous Gardein stuff everyone is talking about and the guy behind the counter tells me that the Gardein is cooked with the other meat… I said “What????” Yep, it may be vegan at start, but once it’s been cooked over beef and chicken juices, it no longer qualifies as VEGAN… TOTALLY DEFEATS THE PURPOSE!!! 11/11/2010

About Chipotle cooking the garden blend on the same grill as the meats… Personally, I don’t care. From a moral standpoint, their cooking of my fake meat on the residual juices of real meat does not make any extra animals die. However, if you are concerned about food poisoning, well then you have a very valid concern.
-
Went to the Culver City location to give this a try and apparently they don’t carry it anymore because it didn’t sell well. Have others had luck with this? Sounds like this list needs be updated again. I am from out of town and just came across this posting on my phone
