happy vegan easter weekend!
16April 3rd, 2010LA restaurants, native foods, otherwe aren’t really the type to celebrate religious holidays here at quarrygirl.com, but it’s really hard not to get caught up in the hoopla surrounding them. so here are our picks of the top 3 things to do this easter that don’t involve jesus or animal products:
1.) eat some vegan easter candy! pictured above are some special ordered marshmallows from sweet and sara, and if you haven’t tried their treats yet, you are really missing out—the marshmallows are thick and creamy beyond belief. i know you don’t have time to order any easter-themed stuff at this point, but here is a pretty good list of vegan candy you can get at the grocery store.
2.) get a native foods spring wellington! the spring wellington is FANTASTIC, and on easter sunday only, all native foods locations will be selling individual portions of it. their special is $9.95 per person and comes with “A generous slice of our Spring Wellington with Tarragon Hollandaise and Alice’s Dinner Salad, a medley of field greens, sugar snap peas, strawberries, toasted almonds and currants with a fresh citrus dressing.” you should seriously rush to native foods while they have this offer on, because the wellington is truly a special meal. and if you have room in your freezer, i highly suggest buying a whole one and saving what you don’t eat.
3.) have an easter egg hunt…and fill the plastic eggs with booze. our friends did this today and it was a super good time. i’ve never seen adults so happy to be crawling around in the bushes.
that’s it! we hope you have a great holiday!

Simmer down James. I myself am not religious in the least. But what’s with the name calling? To each his own.
Love the blog QuarryGirl! -
Whoa, I’m not religious either, but I don’t think Freekygeeky’s comment was “shit hate” and warranted her being called a “fuckin cunt” :/ Vegans come from all backgrounds, I think the important thing is that we all have a common interest in animal rights and living in a way that doesn’t infringe on them. Infighting doesn’t help the cause *at all*. One of the most common insults thrown at me is that vegans care more about animals than they do about people, and that vegans can be “militant” and “self righteous” and “judgmental”. Let’s not perpetuate the stereotype, please.

Right, back to the food- that wellington looks sooooo damn good. And I’m nowhere near any place that sells it 🙁

yay!!! glad you guys found some treats worth hunting for. seriously, we had people scrambling around our house well into the darkness looking for these eggs. the booze egg hunt has turned into a great annual tradition!….now we gotta get over to native foods cause that wellington needs to be in my tummy!!!

“…can be “militant” and “self righteous” and “judgmental”.”

🙂

Totally forgot it was Easter yesterday–funny thing, I was born on Easter!

We bought those very same marshmallows at Lassen’s in Ventura! We had them for breakfast with coffee on Easter morning. 🙂

James, i was in no way “spewing shit” here, but it looks like you are. i was simply saying that QuarryGirl should be more sensitive because as Sophia said, we all come from different backgrounds. i don’t know what compelled you to use those words towards me…that was unnecessary and says alot about your character because clearly you are the one full of hate.
