what you sick people come here for
15August 25th, 2011vegan bakersvegan chocolate chip cookie covered oreos from clara’s cakes. (like them on facebook!)
these are brilliant. giant homemade chocolate chip cookies with oreos stuffed inside. you can order them now in los angeles, so get on it. here’s how:
the cookies are $2 each (a pretty good deal since each one contains both a chocolate chip cookie and an oreo!) and are sold by the dozen or more. you can order them by emailing clara or calling (805) 334-0390. if you aren’t familiar with clara’s cakes, it’s a super delicious local vegan bakery run by an awesome 14 year old. they make all kinds of treats, and these genius cookies are the latest creation. GET SOME.
ps: did you know that i stole the recurring “what you sick people come here for” title from my friend chris? while my posts are all about vegan junk food, his are about cute animals. you sickos would probably enjoy that as well, so check it out.

This is an outrage! And by ‘this’ I obviously mean that these creations aren’t in my fat hand right now.

We tried our hands at making these a few months ago, but the chocolate chip cookie dough ended up being the type that spreads a lot in the oven. They looked like fried eggs.

Oh man, total sugar bomb! Love the way the Oreo is nice and soft on the inside. Clara rules.

$24 for cookies? The vegan price inflation is getting way out of hand
-
babycakes charges $5 for cookie sandwiches. high prices on vegan baked goods are nothing new.
-
OMG, those look so good! But at that price I think the only way could have one is to make my own.

1.) Oreos are vegan
2.) These may not even be Oreo brand. They might be TJs brand or Newmans.

I also found this:
I got the following message from Kraft when I asked them about vegan suitability of Oreo products: “Unfortunately the Oreo’s made in the UK are not suitable for vegetarians as it contains animal rennet.”
So it looks like it’s not even suitable for vegetarians, let along vegans.

The UK site lists ingredients as follows:
Ingredients:
Sugar, wheat flour, vegetable fats (with antioxidants: E-306, E-304), fat-reduced cocoa powder (7%), glucose and fructose syrup, raising agents (sodium and ammonium bicarbonates), whey powder (from milk), cocoa mass, salt, emulsifier (soya lecithin), flavouring (vanillin).I think my heart just broke a little bit. I was so looking forward to making these.
