So now I have scar (a few actually) to always remind me that on January 29, 2011 I nearly lost a limb in honor of this great day, and still managed to feed 2 omni men delicious vegan pizza.” here’s a picture of her pie…

skyloader and katemeister in the bay area hit up jules thin crust and got some amazing photos. skyloader writes, “Hey Quarrygirl, thanks for Vegan Pizza Day, the Katemeister and I had to join in on the festivities. We wanted to support Zpizza today but tried out a new spot called Jules Thin Crust out in Danville in the San Francisco East Bay. The pizza was unique, with a long skateboard shape and very thin crust. Went for take-out – that’s how we roll. We ordered a large #15 with Daiya, since that’s the main vegan option here (Portobello mushrooms, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, arugula, organic tomato sauce, other mushrooms), and a custom with Daiya, asparagus, kalamata olives, basil, and shallots. The pies were good – a little too heavy on the Daiya – but tasty none the less. We’ll have to check them out with some other toppings in future. I’ve attached some pix from our Vegan Pizza Day.”

    Incredible!!!!!

  • I was surprised to see a picture of myself at the top left of the second Masa photo! Pretty cool 🙂

  • WANT. PIZZA. NOW.

How much longer until the next Vegan Pizza Day?

Suggestion: the day after the next Vegan Beer Fest…or concurrent.

  • Such a fun idea!! Maybe next year should be Pizza Week. All these great pictures make me wanna eat all the different kinds of pizza!

  • Great pix, all! My picture didn’t come out, but I had the Berkeley Vegan (without mushrooms) from Z-Pizza (Burbank), and it was awesome. Got a small for lunch, then on the way home, got another for dinner.

On a sadder note, I tried to get Cruzer pizza (Glendale) on the way home, but it was closed; called Los Feliz, and was told that Cruzer Glendale is closed for an unknown period of time, and when it reopens, it won’t have the vegan options. Perhaps this has been addressed on the site; if so, I missed it.

  • The idea of a 100% vegan pizza place is amazing but my experiences at Cruzer have been mediocre. The pizza has been adequate but the products seem to be overpriced and the service has left a lot to be desired. I will take my money elsewhere. A different kind of 100% vegan pizzeria could thrive in LA. As for the Glendale location vehemently not carrying vegan products anymore, that just sounds silly to me.

It appears that vegan pizza day was a huge success

  • oh no! i didn’t know that. sad news. 🙁

Had to come back and look at the photos again, every pizza shown looks so delicious. Amazing.

  • i have heard from the staff at Masa of echo park that NONE of the veggie meats are vegan. fyi..might wanna look into that one. they could’ve been wrong, but since i saw someone posted veggie pepperoni from there on their vegan pizza, thought i’d mention it..

  • fear not, the pepperoni is safe! the sausage is not.

  • Of all foods I used to miss pizza most. When we got brave enough to try to make our own at home it’s like the world reopened again!

Thanks for posting so many gorgeous pies. Gives me confidence to attempting making each one. All so yummy! Yeah for Vegan Pizza Day! 🙂

  • Just to say @choosevegan did most of the legwork on setting up the night at Paco, I take credit for the idea though! And the cheezly. The lovely, melty, tasty, gorgeous, cheezly. 🙂
