epic vegan potluck time.
10January 8th, 2011vegan eventsover the holidays we were invited to an all vegan potluck/surprise party, and i’m happy to say that it was by far one of the most epic eating sessions i attended in all of 2010. if you haven’t thrown a vegan potluck yet, i highly suggest you give it a try. even with a relatively small number of people at the get-together, we wound up with way more food than we could eat…and all of it was fantastic.
check out the amazing food:
the party got off to an insanely good start with bess from i dream of greenie’s VEGAN JELLO SHOTS as well as beer provided by aj of queer vegan runner.
the jello shots were amazing. they tasted like and had the texture of REAL jello…i’m still kind of in shock.
for the main courses we had a bunch of great items, starting with “death row mac ‘n cheese” by choose your own food chain…
aj cooked up THE BEST PRETZEL ROLLS IN THE WORLD…
AND a delicious green bean casserole…
in addition to the jello shots pictured above, bess also made some wicked ravioli with eggplant sauce…
and those are just the main courses! dessert was intense as well. i brought a cheesecake from earth cafe…
the sampler-style pie included slices of sweet potato pie, pumpkin, strawberry fields forever, rockin’ raspberry, blueberry, and who’s your daddy. earth cafe makes the best vegan cheesecake known to man, so of course this thing was a crowd-pleaser.
there were also chocolate covered pretzels…
jam-filled cookies…
and last but not least, CUPCAKES!
not to mention, the cutest f-ing cats i’ve ever seen.
overall, it was a perfect night. extra special thanks to our hostesses and to everyone who made the great food. the world would surely be a better place if more people threw vegan potlucks. <3

If it were possible to relive a food coma by pictures alone for one meal, I would want it to be for this meal!
I totally had a leftover pretzel roll the next morning topped with the eggplant sauce.
And don’t even get me started on the green bean casserole, “Death Row” mac and “Who’s Your Daddy” cheesecake.
And the vegan jello shots will definitely come back for a new and improved round 2!

A potluck, yes, just once I’d like to only have to make one thing instead of making (and paying for!) the amount of food pictured above whenever we have people over.

Woohoo! Thanks for the shoutz. I think we should have a Round Two version of this potluck where everyone would bring the same stuff as last time!

It was EPIC thanks to the guests and all the contributions! I promise that’s not the last of the pretzel rolls Mr Meaner…plan for many more pretzel-based meals.
