FREE CUPCAKES! giveaway from vegan bake sale!
166September 15th, 2009vegan bakersupdate: we have a winner for the vegan cupcakes! yaya! thanks to vegan bake sale for doing such a wonderful giveaway!
FREE. VEGAN. CUPCAKES. do i have your attention?
that’s right, you have a chance to win a whole box of delicious cruelty-free cupcakes. and these aren’t just any old vegan cupcakes—these are rich, decadent, sinful-tasting cupcakes made by vegan bake sale. alix, the mastermind behind the los angeles-based baking company, has been kind enough to offer quarrygirl.com readers the chance to to win one dozen cupcakes by commenting on this blog post.
this is quite an amazing gift, because i have eaten loads of vegan bake sale cupcakes…and there is nothing vegan-tasting about them. as alix says on her blog, “These aren’t the healthy, crunchy, cardboard vegan desserts you find at health food stores, they’re the decadent, delicious treats that could fool any non-vegan.” And, she’s right. I have fed her desserts to unsuspecting omnivores, who gave them tons of praise without even knowing they were vegan. heh heh heh.
here’s what you need to do for a chance to win some of these lovely cupcakes:
1.) you must comment on this blog post with your favorite cupcake flavor.
2.) you must leave your real, valid email address when you submit your comment. (the public won’t see this, just me…so i can contact you if you win!)
3.) you must be in los angeles.that’s it. super easy. the winner will be picked at random and announced on the morning of tuesday, september 22. they will receive one dozen free cupcakes from vegan bake sale, hopefully of their dream flavor. if you need some help thinking of your favorite flavor, check out vegan bake sale’s menu.
i’ve tried several of vegan bake sale’s cupcakes, and while i love them all, the one that haunts my dreams the most is pumpkin spice. the creamy spiced frosting atop moist fluffy cake invokes such warm fuzzy feelings of autumn—this one would be my first choice.
and to those of you who don’t win, please don’t let that stop you from trying out some of vegan bake sale’s cupcakes anyway! they are some of the best vegan cupcakes around, and you won’t be sorry. plus, they are so damn pretty.

My favorite flavor is vegan. OK its red velvet but really they’re all my favorite.
-
OMG’z I neeeed a pumpkin spice vegan cupcake asap. I’m reading all the Fall-esque updates from my East Coast Facebook friends talking about football and pumpkin spice coffee and I’m stuck dealing with this perfect weather.
Ok, I win that one, but I do miss all things pumpkin-spice.
-
Having tasted three of Alix’s wonderful flavors, it’s hard to choose, but I’m a sucker for pumpkin spice, which I haven’t even tried yet. Though my boyfriend is a sucker for her velvet cupcakes…
Pumpkin spice. Definitely pumpkin spice.
*drool*
-
I haven’t had the pleasure of these cupcakes yet, but my hands down favorite, go-to cupcake is green tea.
-
Strawberry shortcake and peanut butter cupcakes are my faves!
I <3 cupcakes. Cupcakes are my favorite fruit; that's where I get all of my vitamins.😀

That pumpkin spice looks SO good. I like anything autumn-y. But I’d be down with peanut butter too!
-
Coconut is my favorite. But would love to try Pumpkin Spice- it sounds amazing!! And will go with the great LA Fall weather we’ve been having.
-
Oh my goodness! Amazing! Defintely Mocha, it’s the best of both worlds!
-
I’m RATHER partial to lemony cupcakes. But cookies and cream are always bomb too.
nomnom! -
Chocolate is my favorite, but as long as they are vegan, any flavor is a winner.

-
Red velvet cupcakes are spectacular, because they are red AND chocolatey. Also a fan of the orange veggie flavors: carrot and pumpkin!
-
I’m same as Emily above.
Lemon cupcakes and then COOOOOKies and CREAM.
IMO, Vegan cupcakes are hands-down better than regular. Fluffier. Creamier. Omg. Can I win now?

Yummmmmm! I would have to say that cookies ‘n cream would be my favorite, but anything chocolate is high up there…especially if it has lots of frosting! 🙂
-
I love basic VANILLA. If I could get VANILLA cake w/ vegan CREAM CHEESE frosting, I would die. In a sweet way.
Love Quarry Girl and Vegan Bake Sale! (I enjoy following you both on Twitter)
-
peanut butter cup! being a new and poor vegan, i haven’t had the chance to taste any vegan cupcakes except the red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting i baked two days ago (missed 2 meals to buy some of the ingredients). but it would be great to have a reference to how super yummy vegan cupcakes are supposed to taste like! i have been on veganbakesale but just to wonder how yummy they really are..!
-
tangy lime with coconut frosting sounds good to me…flakes not shreds.

peanut butter cup for the win
“I get the Reese’s candy bar. If you read that name Reese’s thats an apostrophe S. Reese’s apostrophe S at the end of that name. That means the candy bar is his. I didn’t know that. Next time you’re eating a Reese’s candy bar and a guy name Reese comes by and says “let me have that”, you better hand it over. “I’m sorry, Reese. I didn’t think I’d ever run into you.”

I love a strong vanilla, but those pumpkin spice look awesome too. Delicious!
-
coconut, strawberry shortcake, or lime sounds particularly delicious at this exact moment!
-
Pumpkin Spice please or peanut butter cup…aw the choices all souns so wonderful…
-
I’ve never had a red velvet cake or cupcake, so that’s what I’d want to try. All of Alix’s cupcakes I’ve tasted in the past have been absolutely amazing.
-
Like many people here have said… how do you choose just one???? Since I must, my first choice is peanut butter cup. Of course if I wasn’t an unemployment statistic I would purchase them myself, but that is just not possible at this time. Feel sorry for me and give me a box of cupcakes : )
-
I LOVE LOVE LOVE EVERYTHING PUMPKIN, but also love Peanut Butter. Honestly ALL these vegan cupcakes sound too good to be true!!!!
-

This is so cool! My favorite is also pumpkin. I wait all year to have pumpkin treats in the fall. Yum!
-
peanut butter cupcakes sound AMAZING! i’ve never even heard of such a heavenly thing
-
I haven’t had the joy of trying VBS yet, but chocolate is always a go! Altho I am intrigued by another poster’s mention of green tea…
-
It’s gotta be peanut butter cup. I mean, not that there’s anything wrong with all of the other splendiferous flavors — they are all life changing. But as far as personal taste goes, peanut butter cup is cosmically good, almost as if it had been created by Gaia herself. Yup. Peanut butter cup definitely get my vote. No doubt.
Wait a minute…
There’s a lemon?! Ugh!
I’ll get back to you.
-
Okay first off, thank you so much for the giveaway. These cupcakes look amazing. I’m a peanut butter type of girl all the way but coconut is my second favorite. And of course, chocolate is always nice.
-
Those cupcakes need to be in my possession.
I love Pumkin Spice!!!! -
I’m not entering the contest because that wouldn’t be fair, I’m just here to say that anyone who hasn’t yet had the Vegan Bake Sale strawberry shortcake cupcakes is missing out on life. If you are reading this and end up being the winner, I’m telling you… the strawberry shortcake is where it’s at! Good luck all, you’re in for a treat!
-
EdwoodJR September 15th, 2009 at 13:33
Red velvet cupcakes are my fave. They make me do the cupcake dance.
-
We had 5 dozen of Vegan Bake Sale’s ‘cakes at my wedding last month! They were yums! My favs are the red velvet and oreo.
I feel spoiled now…
-
Wow…you should have more contests, it seems to be bringing all the shy kids out of the woodwork.
Anyway, not that my postpartum belly needs it but I love anything peanut buttery. I’m a red velvet virgin though so I should probably give those a whirl too.
-
So many but if I had to narrow it down: mocha, coconut, chocolate.
-
If specialty flavors are allowed — strawberry shortcake; if not, velvet or lime — *crossing fingers*
-
hmmm.. definitely chocolate. mmmm.
love, love, love vegan treats!
thanks vegan bake sale! -
I gotta go with the red velvet cupcake with white frosting. Oooooh man, am I drooling!
-
Chocolate with Cream Cheese frosting!!! Or maybe Boston Cream, if that’s on option.
-
I’m definitely going to go with Strawberry Shortcake! “Cupcakes!”
-
hippiechick September 15th, 2009 at 17:01
Clearly I am missing out, ’cause I pretty much haven’t tried any of the amazing-sounding flavors people have been mentioning! So, from my obviously lacking personal experience, I’d have to go with the tried-and-true chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting (though I’d be more than willing, and thrilled, to try them all out!).
-
Banana cupcake (like banana bread) with chocolately frosting! YUMMIES
Pick me! Pick me for real!
-
Wow, I would gladly take any of those delectable vegan cupcakes, but that pumpkin spice reminds that my favorite time of year is almost here…so I’ll pick that one 🙂
-
Free cupcakes! Last time I had an offer this good I left a cupcake-crumb trail all the way home.
German Chocolate Cupcakes W/Pecan-Coconut Frosting, Please.
No witchcraft or I’ll eat your haus! (You’ll re-Gretel it…)

-
The strawberry shortcake cupcakes sound marvelous! Second choice, the classic that is chocolate.
-
I’m a fan of surprises in my cupcakes, so I’d have to go with something like a Boston Creme Cupcake. Amazing. PS Quarrygirl, you have made my life so much easier eating out in LA.
-
I’d really love a peanut butter and banana flavored one right now! Yummy1
-
Why i would love to try a peanut butter otherwise shoot chocolate is just fine..
-
Now would be the perfect time for me to have my first vegan cupcake and then share the wealth to the rest of my omni family members to let them taste how yummy vegan goodies are!!!!
Espresso cupcakes for the win!
And thanks for everything you do!!!!
-
It’s a tie between red velvet and peanut butter. Oh I would be thrilled with either!! So delicious! I am already drooling.
-
Am I too late to post a comment? Chai tea would be an amazing cupcake flavor I think <3
-
Chanako September 16th, 2009 at 17:04
mmmmmmmmmmm…I’m dreaming about #1 – red velvet cupcakes or #2 carrot cupcakes…either OR both – with cream cheese frosting, right? My birthday’s this Friday the 18th, but I could handle the delayed gratification!
-
I love Chocolate! Anything chocolate. My birthday is next month so this would be icing on the cake!!;-)
-
Vanessa September 16th, 2009 at 19:30
Velvet.
PS. This is the first time I leave a comment and I just have to say that I love your reviews Quarrygirl! thank you for existing!
-
Well, if I MUST choose just ONE flavor it would be coconutpumpkinstrawberryshortcake. Okay, fine, coconut.
-
Peanut Butter Cup would without a doubt consume me, be consumed by me, be consummated with me, be my face’s swimming pool.
-
peanut butter graham cracker!
or
peanut butter with cookies (like a cookies’n’cream, but with peanut butter!)
yae!
-
Oh how POSSIBLY can I pick just one? They ALL sound ridiculously good…like pumpkin spice, peanut butter, carrot cake, cookies & cream, strawberry, lemon…I could go on. If my arm’s tied behind my back, I’d say hmmm, I don’t know…carrot cake!?? Fantastic giveaway!! my little vegan heart thanks you!!!
🙂 Candy -
Though vanilla has become synonymous with bland and boring in advertising and popular culture, it is by far my favorite flavor. Real vanilla bean has much more flavor than it is given credit for. Thank you Vegan Bake Sale!
-
This kind of thing makes me happy I moved to LA.
If I had to choose, either peanut butter cup or pumpkin spice!
-
Just one flavor? Oh dang! C’mon velvet… oh crap, chocolate, oh crap mocha… Pick me!
-
trishells September 21st, 2009 at 17:04
i have never had much of a sweet tooth but before i went vegan the one desert to always tempt me was tiramisu. a tiramisu cupcake i would eat in a flash (must be the rum).
-
My partner is CRAZY for vegan cupcakes; vegan cupcakes are literally helping to keep her vegan. Diamonds ain’t her best friend, vegan cupcakes are. My favorite is a chocolate cupcake with fresh mint leaves on top. Best combo ever!
(for the poster above me, trishells, have you tried the tiramisu at M Cafe — good stuff!!)
