if you love the smiths, and you love morrissey, you are also gonna love sweet and tender hooligans. the tribute band headed by front man jose maldonado is so damn convincing, that if you’d squint your eyes, you’d think they were the real thing.

to celebrate morrissey’s upcoming 51st birthday on may 22nd, sweet and tender hooligans are playing a special “unhappy birthday” concert at the house of blues in anaheim on may 23rd…and i have 3 pairs of tickets to give away.
what does this have to do with vegan food, you ask? not much. but we do celebrate moz’s birthday every year on the blog, and in 2009 we even posted a pic from the sweet and tender hooligans unhappy birthday show. this year, we want the readers (at least 6 of you) to celebrate the birth of morrissey as well. so please go rock out and represent the vegans for us on may 23rd in the OC.
here is how to win:
1.) you must comment on this blog post with the #1 smiths/morrissey song that you’d like to see sweet and tender hooligans play live. (i bet i can guess the song that 95% of you will put down.)
2.) you must leave your real, valid email address when you submit your comment. (the public won’t see this, just me…so i can contact you if you win!)that’s it. pretty standard. three winners will be picked at random and announced on the morning of wednesday, april 7, 2010. they will each receive 2 tickets to see sweet and tender hooligans at HOB anaheim on sunday, may 23, 2010.
i just wanna add that if you don’t win, you should still buy some tickets and go to the show. i’ve seen sweet and tender hooligans several times, and they never disappoint. seriously, this band is amazing and they play shit that moz doesn’t even play anymore.

I second Crustypop. I’d like to see someone pull off “The Boy with a thorn in his Side” the way Morrissey does…yodeling and all.

I LOVE THIS BAND! They are seriously the best tribute band ever. I hope they play Girl Afraid.

Well Meat is Murder is obviously a great one so are most of the other songs people put down…but i love Girl Afraid. hopefully they will play that 🙂
