eeeep! i’m so excited. one of our favorite vegan-friendly specials, the soul food plate, will return to hugo’s this month.

vegan soul food plate: BBQ organic tofu steak served with vegan and gluten-free corn bread topped with cauliflower flowerets covered in a mushroom leek gravy. Served with sides of braised leafy greens with garlic and onions and spiced maple roasted yams. $12.50

you can find it at the valley location starting today, and the weho location starting tomorrow (thursday). but that’s not all…

hugo’s is also taking requests! they wanna know what your old favorite specials are…what would you like to see come back? leave input in the comments section, and hugo will listen to your feedback. personally, i’d love to see the potato pancake sandwich make a return. that thing was crazy.

in the meantime, get over to hugo’s and eat the hell out of some soul food!

    The macaroni and cheese please!!
(Haven’t been by in a while, is it a regular item menu now? Ignore this request if it is, of course, hehe.)

  • The Hippie Hemp Seed Salad is my all-time Hugo’s favorite! I’d love it if they’d add it to the permanent menu.

  • I had already reached out to the owner some months back to profess my love for the potato pancake sandwich.

He had made it seem like it was a strong contender to be added to the permanent menu but alas it wasn’t.

So I am going on the record again to ask for it back!!

  • Potato pancake sandwich!

  • That Soul Food Plate looks SO good! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I wish Hugo’s made deliveries!

  • Vegan mac ‘n cheese is now on the main menu in appetizer and meal form. However, when I ordered it, it seemed very different than when it was a special. The sauce was kinda greenish, and was a bit liquidy. It was OK, but was more like a ‘meh’ alfredo sauce than a cheese sauce.

As for the Soul Food Plate …..YESSSSS!!!! It’s so good…it should be a main menu item.

  • Thanks for your requests and comments – We’ll keep checking back

^ Oh cool, thanks for the update.

  • Oh, MY! I guess I WON’T say it again! Just found out, via a nice Veggie Grill employee, that labite.com delivers for Veggie Grill (depending on where one lives, and according to their website, they DO deliver to our area)! HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
