there’s no shortage of vegan cookies here in los angeles, but i can say without a doubt that the oversized chocolate chip treats from mardy’s munchies are some of the best.

the small neighborhood bakery based out of northeast LA was started about two years ago by montecito heights resident steve rossen, and his partner jana. while they only have one vegan item on the menu at the moment, it’s a damn good one and worth trying out…

the coomer cookie” is a delicious mix of oatmeal, subtle banana, and moist chocolate chips. it all comes together just beautifully in this huge soft treat, and each bite melts in your mouth. heavenly.

mardy’s vegan cookies are available to order through their website, and you can also find them at the old LA farmers market on tuesdays in highland park (that’s today, check it out!) as well as the el sereno farmers market starting on february 4th.

hit up the mardy’s site for more info (they deliver!) and show some support for this great local bakery.

PS: mardy’s munchies also supplies baked goods to both antigua coffee shop and casa princessa, although neither of those places carry the vegan cookies at the moment. maybe if we start bugging them though, they will. let’s show them there’s a vegan demand!

  • Yenzi at Antigua Coffee House is very open to offering more vegan option. They carry both Almond & soy milk and have a yummy veggie sandwhich. I’m sure he would be more than happy to start ordering vegan cookies if there’s a demand… Thanks for posting! 🙂
