vegan pizza, we love it! and with vegan pizza day less than a week away, we wanna be sure to get you prepared by telling you about as many vegan pizza options as possible.

today’s vegan pizza comes to us from mythic pizza in san francisco…a small little take out and delivery joint on haight with awesome late hours (until 2am, and even open on xmas!). while mythic pizza doesn’t carry any fake cheese, they do have a clearly marked vegan option on the menu, and we became quite addicted to it last time we were in SF…

the vegan pizza at mythic has no cheese whatsoever…it’s simply smothered in tomato sauce and topped with copious amounts of fresh vegetables including spinach, artichoke hearts, garlic, mushrooms, and tomatoes. the awesomest thing of all is that it’s available BY THE SLICE and can be taken to-go and eaten next door at toronado, a wonderful beer bar.

the slices at mythic are huge and wonderful. pictured above is ONE slice. we shared it, and the pizza dude was nice enough to cut it in half for us. for under 5 bucks this made a great snack for 2 people, and it had so many tasty vegetables on it that it had to be eaten with a fork. the crust was thin and dusty, while the sauce was perfectly sweet. cheese wasn’t even missed!

vegan deep dish! spinach, artichoke hearts, garlic, mushroom, and tomato. $20.53

we returned to mythic to try out their “vegan deep dish,” and while it was great, i think i’m more a fan of their normal crust. you can only get the deep dish as a whole pie, so we got a medium with the same toppings as the previous slice. this thing was absolutely huge, and the crust was extremely thick and fluffy. it wasn’t a chicago-style deep dish though, which is more of what i was expecting. either way, no complaints…we ate it all up. i am just gonna stick to the thinner pie in the future.

while in san francisco, i’d highly recommend mythic as a solid vegan pizza option. if you don’t mind leaving the fake cheese behind and really want to taste the fresh toppings and tomatoey sauce, you will love this thing.
