UPDATED 1/1/11: vegan new year in los angeles: here’s what’s open!

soak up that hangover with a vegan benedict?
hi everyone, happy new year! we’ve taken a moment to call some of our favorite vegan and vegetarian restaurants in los angeles and find a few dining options for new year’s eve and new year’s day.
this is a super quick list of places that are open, but not doing official shindigs. (for crazy NYE vegan parties, check out tony’s darts away—though it’s probably sold out by now—or rahel’s.) if you know of any places i’m missing, please leave them in the comments section. we contacted a few places but couldn’t get to everyone! also, this post is just a guideline so call ahead and confirm my info before heading out to any of these places.
also, PLEASE send us pictures of your vegan new year’s celebrations, and we will post them on the blog!
ADDED: real food daily is open on new year’s day from noon – 5pm
ADDED: babycakes is open on new year’s day from noon – 6pm
madeleine bistro is open on new year’s eve with their regular menu, as well as a set holiday menu. they will be closed on new year’s day, but will re-open for regular brunch hours on sunday the 2nd.
doomie’s home cookin’ will be open on new year’s eve from noon – 6pm and open on new year’s day from 2pm – 10pm.
fatty’s will be open on new year’s eve from 5pm – 10pm, and then probably closed for good on new year’s day. 🙁
veggie grill will be open on both new year’s eve and new year’s day during normal business hours.
stuff i eat will be open on new year’s eve from noon – 6pm and open on new year’s day from noon – 8pm.
m cafe on melrose will be open until 10pm on new year’s eve, and will be open on new year’s day from 10am – 10pm. (i highly recommend this place for new year’s day brunch! benedict pictured above.)
shojin will be open on new year’s eve from noon – 10pm and open on new year’s day from noon – 10pm.
native foods will be open on new year’s eve from 11am – 9pm and closed on new year’s day.
follow your heart is open until 6pm on new year’s eve, and closed on new year’s day.
locali will be open from 9am – 9pm on new year’s eve (YOUR LAST CHANCE TO GET A DISCOUNT REUBEN, the best sandwich in LA!) and open from 11am – 5pm on new year’s day.

For dessert, BabyCakes NYC is open today until 5pm and tomorrow from noon- 5pm. Just saying. 🙂

Trails cafe is open- cashew mushroom pie with gravy and a soy laté. Yummy
