she can work it out: heather mills acquires cheezly
25July 23rd, 2009news, other, vegan cheeseredwood foods recently purchased by heather mills
i’ve got some vegan news, y’all. heather mills now owns cheezly, and she’s bringing it to america. if you don’t know what cheezly is, it’s an amazing vegan cheese from the UK that did very well in our best vegan cheese challenge. if you don’t know who heather mills is, she used to be married to that pink-colored dude at the top of the page.
i got an email from redwood foods (the company behind cheezly and loads of other vegan goodies from across the pond) today that was just full of great news. check it out:
Weโre the importers and distributors for Redwood Foods Cheezly from the UK and I often read your blog, etc. I think itโs probably one of the best there is. Thanks for all the hard work. Anyway, I just wanted to bring you up to date on the latest Cheezly developments. Firstly, Redwood Foods was just purchased by Heather Mills who is a committed vegan and a very dedicated animal rights activist. The original management team is still in place at Redwood and Heather will be a great ambassador for us and veganism in general. Secondly, we expect soon to be offering a new and improved shredded version of Cheezly here in the States. Thirdly, we plan soon to lower our suggested retail price for Cheezly to $5.99 and maybe a little lower. Lastly, we hope that it wonโt now be too long before we start marketing other Redwood manufactured items in the US.
Please take a look at these links:

www.heathermills.orgso to recap, the bloody awesome news is: new and improved cheezly shreds are coming to the united states, AND the price of cheezly is being lowered!!! this is like a dream come true. we are really gonna have way too many tasty vegan cheeses to choose from.
so congratulations to redwood foods and heather mills on this new partnership. i think this means i’m gonna get to eat a lot more of this:
CHEEZLY! WOO HOO!
bring us the vegan goods, we are ready. my days of paying thousands of dollars on shipping or filling my luggage from london up with nothing but cheezly may be over.

I was once a dog bride….
But.
Redwood is fantastic. I lived in the UK from 1998 through mid-2002 and their Cheatin’ Roasts were a staple of my diet. One of the tastiest faux-meats going. I watched their range grow to include bacon, organic bacon, sliced deli meats, you name, etc… lol.
Years ago I was at the annual vegan expo in London and Redwood had a stall. The event was pay to get in and sample from different vendors. The first ten times I went back to eat from the Redwood table were embarrassing but I quickly rose above my shame for several more trips.
Vegans in the US should rejoice with news of easier access to these products. In my opinion, Redwood is the best vegan food company in the world.

I’ll definitely be looking forward to this. That pizza looks damn good too. ๐

This is fine news indeed! Cheezly’s fantastic and I was planning to mourn my loss upon returning to America. Now I’m stashing the funeral clothes and donning the festival ones!
-
I’m so excited to try their other products! Very cool that they’re planning to increase distribution and lower prices. ๐
-
Can’t wait to try this stuff. And I didn’t recognize Sir Paul until this very post! ๐

Anyone know if it’ll be cheaper in the UK? It’s over 2 quid here and it’d be nicer if it was a bit cheaper as it doesn’t last long!

You think Daiya’s awful!? WTF?! I love it soooo much! I’ve been putting Cheddar Daiya in my tofu scramble this week….it’s insane how good it is!
-
I like the texture and meltability of Daiya and the real cheese taste of Cheezly with bacon or Mature White Cheddar so I combine them both and melt in a pot with a couple TBS.water for the perfect cheese experience.I make grilled cheese for omivores using this delicious combination and COMPLETELY fool them! It’s easier to melt with a little water then spread on the toasting bread, also this combination makes a killer broccolli and cheese casserole.
-
Ok,so what I’m saying is that Cheezly taste great and Daiya melts great so the two together with water in a pot makes a perfect cheese. The Cheezly melts along with the Daiya(it needs a little assistance with a fork).Sooooo delicious!
